One of the easiest things a customer can do to keep from incurring fees is to make sure that they have enough money in their account to cover all purchases made. These simple steps can be used to show how to cut your banking fees.

Overdraft fees are the most common fee received by bank customers. While it seems like common sense many American spend more money than what they have in their account by not paying enough attention to what they have spent.

Keeping a minimum balance is something that may need to be done by a bank account holder to ensure they are not charged a fee for the month. Many banks now have started to charge people for not keeping a certain amount of money in their account. Users should know this amount upfront and should keep an eye on their balance daily rather than weekly to ensure that they will keep above this cutoff level.

Paying bills online rather than using paper checks could save fees each month. Some banks charge fees for using more than a certain amount of checks in a given month. This is done to entice bank account holders to pay bills online to cut down on costs and paper for the banks. Account holders should see how easy the online bill paying process is and switch to paying the majority of bills online rather than using checks.

Avoiding ATM fees from banks can be as simple as taking the time to go inside your bank or going to an ATM to withdraw money that is in your bank?s network. This seems like an easy idea but many people do not carry as much cash on them and are stuck using out of network ATMS which charge several dollars per transaction.

Customers should check the fine print on their banks and credit cards and make sure that there are not annual fees charged. If annual fees are charged customers should only consider keeping the card or account if the annual fee is worth it due to certain rewards or incentives to maintain the account.

While these cost cutting methods appear to be common sense to readers, customers should remember to take a look at all these items throughout the time periods specified. Keeping daily and weekly track of bank accounts and credit card accounts can assure that fees can be cut throughout the year. Bank fees have become harder for them to levy on customers due to regulations but bank fees will exist forever and customers should find it in their best interest to minimize them.
